Rebuilding strength, capability, and independence one simple practice at a time
Hi, I am Wendy, and I am almost 67 years old.
I have spent more than 30 years helping people rebuild strength, confidence, and capability through simple, sustainable habits.
I was not always the woman you see today. I grew up an athlete, strong, capable, and always moving. Sports were my world.
But life has a way of pulling us off our path.
A couple of car accidents, a stressful job, and slowly, without even noticing, I drifted into a version of myself I did not recognize.
My weight climbed to almost 300 pounds. I was nearly a size 22. I was diagnosed with three autoimmune issues, and I have never taken a single prescription.
Then in 1998, everything changed.
My mother fell and needed a full hip replacement. I rushed to the hospital, and as I stood beside her bed, I saw something I could not ignore.
If I did not make changes, I was looking at my own future twenty years ahead.
That moment shook me awake. It pushed me to step up for her, and eventually for myself.
And that is when everything truly began.
🌱 The First Step Back to Myself.
I did not start with perfection.
I did not start with motivation.
I started with one tiny action, and I learned my WHY.
I borrowed a Tae Bo video. I could not finish the 20-minute workout.
So I wrote down the time I stopped, and the next day, I did one second more.
One second. That is how I rebuilt my life.
Eventually, I finished the whole video.
Then I challenged myself.
Then I got a gym membership in my neighbourhood.
I walked to the gym, exercised, and walked home.
Walking became the foundation of my health, my clarity, and my independence.
What began as stress reduction grew into a daily practice that shaped my entire philosophy.
Today, walking is at the heart of what I teach because it is accessible, powerful, and life-changing for women in midlife.
Those early changes planted the seeds of what would eventually become my five daily practices.
💛 The Hardest Chapter and the Turning Point.
A few years later, I became my mother’s full-time live-in caregiver. For seven years, I poured everything I had into caring for her.
I burned out so badly I could barely walk for three weeks. I slept more than sixteen hours a day.
And when she fell again and had to go into long-term care, my siblings blamed me.
I felt like I had failed her. But the truth was that I had abandoned myself.
And that is when the five practices deepened. Not as a program. Not as a plan. But as the only way I could move forward through illness, burnout, and rebuilding.

🌟 The Five Practices That Rebuilt My Life.
Over time, slowly and consistently, these five simple daily practices became the foundation of my life:
- Know your WHY because clarity gives direction.
- Take small steps consistently because tiny actions compound.
- Strength train twice per week because muscle protects independence.
- Eat real food, especially protein, because food fuels the body that carries you through life.
- Protect sleep like gold because it is.
These practices rebuilt my strength, my energy, and eventually my independence. They continue to guide me to this day.
